NanU's Poetry Bus

This week's task was to use the word verifications as a prompt, a genius suggestion by the lovely NanU - more riders will be found on her blog here.

Here's what resulted for me:

Verification

They wandered, stray forgotten myths,

The half thought, forbidden golden thoughts

bits driven to survive for aeons

they’d scintillate – a fraught and

lying spark in someone’s eye

a precious drop inside a yellow box

they were free, they floated

All that ended when the web was wove

Empires of Elves and struggling Strings of Sprites

were meshed into, and gargled, smothered down

their magic subtervented, spells ran dry

kept in check by electronic ether

none free, all information soon tied down

and it was owned by those who bought the engines

sold tickets for a world of windows

to the whole-wide-world-wide-web

Only alive now in the tests for humans

They try to get their humble message out

Octydle, Fwhorb, and fjowie, kweerb and drueman

It comes across as nonsense, feeble shouts,

My mind twists a second, trying to catch the mean

But then a shiver later, it is lost,

hopeless as a dream

I love this "the feeble shouts"

You have taken 'word verification' to a whole new level! Wonderful!

I love, love, love the idea that VWs are communications from a lost and smothered magical world. What a fabuulous idea and so genuinely poetically expressed. Applause!!!!

Beautiful Niamh, and I love the imagination that took you to the origin of the words, and our struggle for their meaning. And such sadness!
Breathtaking.

Ohh that was one Fab poem.
I haven't given it a try this time..
But Jizz you were so good in there...When I first started surfing net n saw these verifcation words, I really could not understand why I had to rewrite something so unintelligent, then got the point behind them...
Loved your Poem :)

And in fact this one would be a good one to video...easy visuals - random wvs...and you reading it over them (slowly please...).
Could be a big blog hit! I'm not one for pixies and elves normally but I love this. And Titus is right - the sadness if really moving.

Wow. What a brilliant poem. Your brain works in mysterious and fantastic ways - am going to shuffle off into a corner now and curl up in an envy inspired ball.

Exquisite is the word that springs to mind.

Ah thanks PF, just the response I hoped for.
And thank you very much weaver, very kind!! :-)

Just realised I never commented on here after reading (I sometimes get a bit overwhelmed by the amount of respondents these days).

This is a really fresh take on the prompt - and in the process creates a real sense of yearning - even sadness - for something lost. Nice One. Whonscoo!
