A Poem which attempts to dissuade you from bringing your Elephant to the Dáil

A word of warning.....

A Poem which attempts to dissuade you from bringing your Elephant to the Dáil

Don't bring your Elephant to the Dáil

I don't care if he likes Labour, Greens, or Fianna Fáil,

He wouldn't fit in there at all, 't all, at all

No he wouldn't fit in the Oireachtas

He'd be sure to annoy the poor aul Cheann Chomhairle

He wouldn't sit still, go to sleep, like them all, yeah

He'd be sure to vote wrong, then have to call ye

And say, "We did our best and they mocked us"

Yes, you'll soon find your Ivory toothed friend

is prone to the Royal "we" which no end

annoys all the politicians, who tend

to find trunks more inclined to get blocked, thus

There'd be so many problems, no bail out could solve

so pack him his trunks, tell him better evolve

get on with his life, cos you won't be involved

No Dáil for your elephant today

Wise words. Let's hope they get listened to...

Au contraire bring all the animals into the Dail, they'd do a better job, and we'll keep the politicians caged up in the Zoo where they belong.

Rhyme is a tie between chomhairle/all yeah and Oireachtas/mocked us

More excellentoism from the 'Don't bring book of animals'
Which I think should be the title of the book when it is published. (10% will be fine, don't mention it, your welcome)

Rhyme of the week that should be, doh!

I loved it (you and Peter G are on the same thought-track today).

I need some translations. I know Dail and Fail, but not the Cheann Chomhairle or Oireachtas. With it being rhymes, I'm getting a sense of pronunciation, mind you.

This should be in an Irish newspaper.

Thanks Dave, we can only hope.
Interesting idea TFE - re the animal taking. (and 10% you must be joking, don't like it anyway, as a name...) but tks for your kind words.
Hi Kat, Cheann Chomhairle is the head speaker, kinda facilitator/ chairperson in the Dáil. Dáil is the lower house of government, and Oireachtas is the name of the total government.
I'm not sure if the poem is newsworthy, but thanks. :-)

You get better and better, but I love the idea of an elephant in the Dail, but how's he going to fit in the mercedes???

Thanks Titus!

Socks - how do you get 50 elephants into a mini? 25 in the front 25 in the back!

I pity the poor gray elephants
Symbol of the Republicants
A creature so noble surely deserves more
Than to front for the party of corporate war.

On the other hand, perhaps your elephant could take the politicians to tusk for their malfeasance.

i saw that brian cowen fellow on the tv tonight and i have to agree with tfe, all the animals should be brought to the dail.

and i'd say to cowen, aside from the whole crashing your economy thing, that business with the picture was decidedly unfunny so now you get to play escaping from the leopard. it'll be on pay per view and the money raised can go to your banker pals. i, for one, would subscribe.
