The Time being Right

Loyal readers will remember that I didn't change my clocks when clocks changed over for Winter, I kept with the Summer hours, and readers I can report that I stuck with the Summer hours all the way through, smugly rolling into work at what felt like 9.30, going to bed with an easy conscience at midnight for me, feeling that I'd been up late...
You can only imagine how irkful the last few days have been for me, with the rest of the world now in full agreement with the timings on my phone and car clock.... I'm nearly thinking of moving my clock ahead another hour, just to go back to my previous "way ahead" kinda timeline, but then I'll be two hours ahead next winter, and then it'll probably just keep going, spiralling further and further out of control until I wind up in 24 years time back at square one, and still having decisions to make every 6 months.
Life can be so tough sometimes.

I tried putting the clocks back an extra few hours everyday and managed by the age of 91 to go back to being 21 years old.Highly recommended.

I cannot imagine such a life, an hour of of sync. I am too time bound to enjoy such wanton luxury.

At Last TFE - the secret of youth!
Elisabeth - try it next time they try to get you to get up an hour earlier - it's a lovely little delusional feeling of - "Ha, they think they're making me get up at 7, but really it's 8" - course it's a killer when you've to stay in work till 6.30 every single evening...

Such dangerous thinking! Why at this rate various, even a stopped clock will never be right

Couldn't we just go back to sundials? Then in Scotland no one would ever know what the time was.

I like the idea of you controlling time rather than vice versa.

I'm working on a clock design with elliptical gears, so that it runs fast during the day, and slow at night:

clock 8 am = really 10 am
clock 5 pm = really 3 pm

The trick will be to replace all of the clocks at work on the same day.

Niamh, that is too too funny! I need to come up with some sort of plan as well; it takes me at least two weeks to level out when the clocks get adjusted. (Somehow, I always forget to change my watch and then I'm really confused!)

This is my excuse for getting up late and not wanting to go to bed at the other end of the day. Who invented the clock anyway?

hey Watercats - yup - got it in one.
Tis true Uisce, stopped clocks are the only type worth having really, least you know where you stand with them, they've settled, they know who they are... I could go on.
Titus - scotland and ireland both - tis sad how much time does control us, routines, work hours, schedules, time tables, blah blah blah - for a fourth dimension it's pretty inflexible and unidirectional too...
Oh D Acorn! Our Saviour! Hurry up with it, we're all in!
Thanks Kat! I know, it's mad - What I hated most was at the other end of the year I think I managed it for the first three years I lived outside of home, I got up one hour too early and went rushing to college for 8.00... ugh...
