I was wonderin, what would happen if I were to relocate my blog – blogsquat as it were on other people’s blogs – I could just leave my blog in their comments, leave a note here to tell you where to look. Would that be a weirdly interesting way of cross pollinating with other bloggers, directing my readers (all four of ye) over there and maybe getting some of their readers back. Or would it merely be intensely annoying? Imposing myself, invasive, uninvited, a pest, gorilla guest, a pirate blogger, robinhood of blogs – commenting on widely read blogs directing them towards the really great little read gems out there.
And what’s the point of this blogging anyway? There’s a lot of buzz about it being the new media – and people not reading papers any more. To me it’s entertainment, a source of information, a slight addiction. I can see it also being just another part of our fracturing and isolating culture, the way everyone has 200 TV channels and no one watches the same things anymore – so none of us have stuff in common, the way we’re all getting further and further from each other in our insular little worlds, enjoying our own personalised tent of our own importance. Blogging’s part of it, I have 22 links on my side panel, all blogs that I genuinely like looking at – but if I add anymore I know I won’t keep up, it’d be too time consuming, so I guess I’m stuck with my selected little world, and that’s my papers, until some of them stagnate or stop updating or die off and I’ll have to find more, but in the mean time these are the ones I read and I won’t read any others unless they point me strongly over…
So anyway – feedback on the blog squatting idea? Any particular blogs you think I should invade/ infiltrate? Or do you think this would be merely an extremely poor, pointless and childish version of hacking?

I use my blog mainly to say something I need to say, not necessarily to the world but to the people I hope are listening.
I'm not as ambitious as you. I don't want to reach the whole universe.
I love visiting the blogs you have on your list, but seldom comment there. I'm not sure cross-pollination is that important to me; but then I'm always willing to try new things.
But it might kill off my interest if it became too complicated for my little brain.

As usual, Various, a fascinating and original and intriguing idea. Go for it, I'll follow...

MMmm, you are much better versed in the world of blogging than little ole moi, as DQ, I mainly use it to say something between our LW selves, but you can hi-jack me or mine anytime!

You're welcome to jack my blog any time you like.

Consider it a standing invitation.

Hey Niamh, how do you get that thumbnail on your bloglist? I want to steal that, it looks good...

DQ - it's a shame you don't comment on other blogs - your comments here are always insightful and entertaining.
BM & Jessica - thanks for the invites, will possibly be callin over to ye later to squat then, tho when it's with your permission I'm not sure if it's really what I'm tryin to do.
DO - that was a happy accident - go to customize and edit your blog list - there's different options on the preview then to tick. It is rather snazzy isn't it? I think everyone should have it...
