and my attempt (having just looked at Rachel's page again, I believe I have totally misinterpreted the prompt, this combined with the fact that the poem itself needs alot more work, possibly means I'll have to walk,,, ah well - it's been a busy week)
The games people play
Small minds molded easier than morla
Squeaky voices tell you what to think
Easy as remembered pink and blue
A home for me and a war for you
So simple even a 3 year old can do
Can find correct place in the world
Can stay blind to the traps
Trace lines on the maps and never go astray
Take on trust the enclosure is safety
Believe in Barbie or Bob the builder
And burst balloons, and fun cartoons
Beg a plastic iron to press tiny things
A tiny tears doll to care for
A gun to fight strong and dare for
Games people playing with small minds

You get some children's characters in there so it fits for me. Plus I really like it.

I likes it too 'Beg a plastic iron to press tiny thingsappeals for unknown reasons. It's all different and I likes 'different'
I've never seen anyone told to get off the bus and walk, so for that reason alone, I'd like to watch you out the back window trudging mournfully along in our wake.
However, there's a lot of potential in the poem, so I presume you'll be on. Used to love those five piece wooden jigsaws (still do, if truth be told)
I think you've twisted the ticket just right! Great message, and love the details - tiny tears, toy irons, toy guns. And we wonder where people get their ideas?!
I think it's a great poem - we could definitely do a better job of coming up with amusements for children that would actually prepare them for life. Oh, wait, I guess these do - just not the life we might wish for them.
Wonderful thoughts - just don't get me started....life is partitioned still to his and hers. A little less than when I was young but not enough. Still not enough. Now where's my apron...I gotta do the dishes
Thanks Rachel, great driving! and TFE - I bet you always wanted a toy iron, that's why you like it. :-)
And a grudging thanks to Peter, having wished me off the bus!
Very kind Karen, I know - it's a weird world. I heard recently of an artist doing a caterpillar for a little girls book, and he was told to glam up the creature, give it a designer handbag etc.
Thanks Bug, Maybe we need some new toys!
Thanks MuseSwings and welcome. I guess the problem is that alot of people still like the partition.
Sorry Niamh, but I am going to have repeat Peter's line it was so good.

However, on a more serious note, from the title onwards - The games people play - this plays with your head, and that's what poetry does. Get up here in the bad girl bad row right now! Oh, now I'm making myself think of Rolf Harris and "Two Little Boys", for no reason whatsoever.
I liked it, and every brief line not only nudged memories but reflections from me. And some nice juxtapositions in there, culminating in the final,
A tiny tears doll to care for
A gun to fight strong and dare for
Games people playing with small minds
No trudging for you today!
Gonna buy myself a Toy Iron!
In fact I'll get a real oversized ironing board to go with it and install it in IMMA and I'll call it 'The precipice of the domestic illusion, part sixteen'
(But only after I've finished playing with it.)
There should be more morla in poetry I say. Bravo!
I am a new follower!
I suspect I should really say 'brava' but worry people will think I'm just talking about a Fiat car...
Et tu Titus?
Ah you're very kind re the poem, so I'll have to forgive ya
Do TFE!!! Please do!
I know Oub - thought Morla would be more controversial than it has been as well, oh well
Thanks Phillips - a big welcome to blog world!!
Ooh, this has a real bite to it. I don't think you'll be walking, somehow. Nice placement of Barbie, Tiny tears and the rest as well.
