Marion's TFE Colour Bus

This week's driver is Marion, who you'll find over here - with the other passengers...

The prompt was to do something on the theme of colour, so I'm sticking in a little picture that I made yesterday, perhaps inspired by TFE's Auction

anyway my ticket is below

What’ll be left

.

It doesn’t take much

for all the bands of colour

to appear

just a touch

of light to pass through mist

then it’s here

.

may think we’ll paint the world grey

with the scum of our own waste

the smoke smog reprimanding

the slur of coal disgrace

.

The tired world might blacken,

lives lie slacken with the pain

still colours sparkle sky-bows

after stinging acid rain

.

.

Fascinating fact learned during the research for this one: when there are two rainbows in the sky, the weaker one is always backwards versus the original in terms of the order of colours

Colourful sketcheroonie, looks Japanesesque.

I likes the pome too and I know polluted skies make the stars twinkle, wonder is it the same with rainbows, I hope so, I lke to see beauty from despair.

Oh, this is really good, Niamh. The part from "may think" and especially that "slur of coal disgrace" - that's fantastic!

I have a book called, "Coal" (It's packed away, unfortunately, but it's one that I really look forward to reading when things are settled.)

Excellent interpretation of "colour". (I'm still thinking.)

Ooh, I like this, and the journey from bow to bow with the knot in the middle. And the hope.
And after yet another marathon listening session (close to broadcasting genius) I can hear your voice too.
Purest colour.

"the scum of our own waste" - how grim and true! This makes me think, too, of the rainbows we can find in puddles of oily water. Skybows after acid rain. Good Lord! What are we doing to ourselves?

Tks EW, just found out sky bows are also a type of weapon.
Tks TFE - esp for the kind comment on the "art"
Tk you Kat, look forward to seeing where the theme leads you
Tks Titus, ah you're very good to listen to the show. :-)
Tks Karen, yes, tis sad.

Indeed, our world will survive our best efforts to ruin it... but wil we?

A thought-provoking stop on this week's Poetry Bus tour!

This poem contains a lot of truth, sadly - but you said it beautifully.

I didn't know that about double rainbows - I'll have to pay attention the next time I see one!

Tks Eric, and welcome.
Thanks Bug, I got to see one on Saturday as well, and can verify that it happens. Pretty mad

Your internal rhymes and word play as usual are top notch, though you lost me a bit with 'lives lie slacken with the pain' The sky-bows are great

Thanks Peter!!

This is so so good. As a depressed environmentalist I find it very comforting.

lovely stuff!... and the picture is cool.. also like the sky bows! and I think the double rainbow is something to do with refraction.. as a comical and entertaining side thought, search 'bear mountain double rainbow' in youtube... there's a serious hardcore hippy!

Thanks Lydia and welcome.
Thanks Cats. You can't compete with that level of hippyhood

What an awesome poem. I didn't know that about a double rainbow. I've seen it once and was lucky to have a camera to photograph it. Thanks for riding the Poetry Bus with me. Blessings!
