John Spillane

There was a Man

There was a man who took a wife
To walk beside him through his life
They walked through sunshine and through rain
They walked through pleasure and through pain
She wore a dress of yellow gold
She was a wonder to behold
And underneath a purple sky
She was the apple of his eye
And when the moon arose in flight
And stars went blazing in the night
They crept into each other’s dream
And slept beside a silver stream

They flew together through the air
And landed on a distant shore
They walked along a golden strand
They walked together hand in hand
She was not the easiest woman in the world
To get along with if you understand
But then again on the other hand
He may not have been the easiest man
But when the moon arose in fright
And stars went blazing in the night
They crept into each other’s dream
And slept beside a silver stream

The world will turn and the rivers flow
The sun will shine and the winds will blow
While angles in the afterglow
Will light their candles in the snow
There was a man who took a wife
To walk beside him through his life
They walked through sunshine and through rain
They walked through pleasure and through pain
She wore a dress of yellow gold
She was a wonder to behold
And underneath a purple sky
She was the apple of his eye

This man who took himself a wife
This girl who wore the dress of gold
They were a wonder to behold
As they declared before us all their wish to love, to have and hold
for life.

The care with which they had prepared
The wondrous thoughts they with us shared
Touched every single person there.
You brought us hope and joy and love
We felt the blessings cascade from above.

Thanks Swiss!
Anon - thanks for that - everyone there made it the day it was...

Now is anyone organising a fancy dress wedding dress party? Cos I'm definitely coming.
Or another good idea shared in the wee hours of this morning, was that anyone who's married should wear their wedding dress to every wedding they go to after that - I'd vote for that as a new tradition!!! Who's with me?

Congratulations! I'm sad I don't live in Canada any more; I'd have offered you a place to stay. Enjoy your honeymoon, and newly wedded bliss.

Niamh B said...

Thanks anyway, still enjoyin the honeymoon, another few days left in it. (the honeymoon - not the newly wedded bliss - hopefully there's at least another couple of weeks in that)
