Kind of wrecked tired on the bus - NanU part deux

So here's this week's effort, NanU asked for a poem reflecting different days of the week, and different moods, and I ended up with this... - for a fuller description of the prompt and other passengers, click here - on Sunday or Monday
.

First Week

.

A return to being

in an ever strange familiar

A laugh at meeting

mother on the street

A nervous day

of acronyms and awkward

A slightly warmer

soaking into atmosphere

Absorbing week of newness and adventure

Is ended now, the starting has begun

.

It was an interesting week and a fortuitous one for the prompt I think, for me anyway. I'm a bit wrecked from the newness of everything - the concentration and trying to learn as fast as possible about what's going on around me, although objectively all I seem to be doing is sitting around rubbing my shins. It has been really great in a lot of ways, the new job is very varied, the people all seem pretty happy, enthused and enjoy what they do. There's lots of chocolate around, and coat hooks. It's the first time I'm not working in a factory, so with no hairnets for bad hair days I'm actually having to make an effort on the appearance front, which is difficult when you're not used to it.

Anyway - we're still back to Dubland for weekends at the moment which is great, but very tiring too in terms of travel, and I'm a bit of a Zombie right now, and overall I just wanted to let ye know about it, and to tell ye not to worry too much if posts slacken off for a while, it's just that I've even less energy right now, and less time, but I'll still enjoy reading yours, and have a few more poems to dissuade up my sleeves, so Wednesdays will stay live at least...

On that topic - can ye let me know if you have any favourite poems to dissuade? I know it's hard to pick with all those gems in there, but which would you think should deffo make the book? I'm trying to do a shortlist for the illustrator. http://poemstodissuade.blogspot.com is where you'll find all the old ones if you can't remember, anyway - happy week everyone.

Take care of yourself, Niamh. Don't overdo it.

I laugh at the shin-rubbing as it's not something I've ever thought of here. Is that an Irish thing?

As regards the poems to dissuade, of course my heart is with the aye-aye, but I'll be back with a more objective opinion.

All the best,

Kat

Right. I'm back and I have to vote for the Tree Frog and the Tapeworm (although the thought of that makes my skin crawl).
They're all so good, it's really hard to choose though.

Thanks Kat, shin rubbing emerged from a typo the other day, when I was trying to say I was rubbing my chin philosophically, but I like it so it's staying, thanks for your votes - I worry about the Yamamori one in terms of ruining noodles for people, I've nothing against noodles at all!

Sounds like you've had a tiring, and at times enjoyable week. I will check out link for disuade poems and come back to you. It will be hard to be disuaded against any!!

I really like the poem, the way it evolves with the week, and has so many A's, and the thought of meeting mother in the street would certainly be strange (for me!).

All the best for the new job.

Ah I just love them all, but my two favourites are the dragon and the tree frog! But that link can't be all of them, I feel I read more???

Thanks Socks - yeah there's 34 in that link - if you click on 2010 in the side you'll find em all there. And yes, a mixed week, stressy but great.
Thanks NanU, it is bizarre, but great, thanks for a great prompt.

Great pome, love the last two lines, full of hope and trepidation, a lovely combination that prevents stagnation and bruscilosis.

must read the dissuaders again.

ps. a certain curmudgeonly poet who shall remain nameless, but you will know who I mean, destroyed my favourite jumper of all time, ever. Life will never quite be the same

Good gracious, take things far easier! Order.
Lovely view of the week, and I like all the 'A's turning to Absorbing and adventures in the end lines.
My favourite dissuaders? How!?
I will give it some thought.
